1. Early 1941 : start of the Leclerc offensive, launched from Tibesti (Chad) and heading towards Fezzan and Kufra (southern Libya). The division occupies several oases, where it establishes bases. Fezzan then passes into French administrative rule, from 1943 to 1951.
2. Late 1941, Albert Preziosi joins up with the 341 “Alsace” Squadron, in training in Rayak (Syria). The Squadron is then sent to Fuka (Egypt). It joins in the fighting in Egypt and Tripolitania.
3. June 1942 : Battle of Bir Hakeim.
4. Sept. 1942 : The Normandy-Niemen Squadron is formed and trained in Rayak. 5. Albert Preziosi leaves Rayak in November 1942, reaching the Russian front in March 1943, where he dies a hero’s death on July 28, 1943.
