From patrick.schouller@inria.fr Mon Jan 27 21:56 MET 1997 Subject: RECHERCHE DE PARTENAIRES -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Sir, we are a French national project on multimedia indexation. We are looking for partnership in the European programme on "Multimedia applications on digital sites". We are specially looking for : * one or several cable operators managing a digital site, possibly in several sites in Europe * partners with public interest contents in other languages * industrial partners from the EU, involved in electronic appliances, terminals or servers, or in television broadcasting Sincerely, Pascal Faudemay & Liming Chen -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LOOKING FOR PARTNERSHIP The TRANSDOC project is a French national project on multimedia indexation. It is a collaboration between several universities, mainly Universite Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris 6), and Universite de Technologie de Compiegne. The project is funded by the French programme on "Information Highways", and will deliver a first prototype for video indexation by the end of 1997. TRANSDOC is looking for partnership in the European programme on "Multimedia applications on digital sites". We are setting up a proposal, which could be driven by another, industrial partner. The goal of our proposition is to implement a demonstrator of several public interest applications with a common interface, and a significant sample of users. Dedicated partners will study the socio-economical aspects of the demonstrator utilization. We already have access to several types of video contents, including cultural, scientific, public interest and video broadcast contents. We shall also have by the end of 1997 a prototype of the common interface, which will enable query by content and by examples, cooperative information filtering, and some virtual or interactive document authoring. We are looking for : * one or several cable operators managing a digital site, possibly in several sites in Europe * partners with public interest or entertainment contents in other languages than French * industrial partners from the EU interested by producing and exploiting the servers and / or the terminals One of these partners can become the Prime Partner. For any information, please contact : * Pascal Faudemay, LIP6/ MASI Laboratory, UPMC Paris faudemay@masi.ibp.fr * Liming Chen, Heudiasyc Laboratory, UTC Compiegne chen@utc.fr -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PRESENTATION OF THE TRANSDOC PROJECT TRANSDOC studies the indexation of structured texts, videos, and virtual reality sessions. Indexation is based both on the image channel, on the sound channel, and possibly on the associated text channel (script, teletext). Query results can compose a new multimedia document (new video, new presentation, etc...), which is edited by the server. They are accessed through a Java browser on the Internet or on other networks. TRANSDOC research domains include : * video segmentation into sequences or scenes * classification of images, objects and sounds * cooperative information filtering through public or group annotations * multidimensional documents and profiles clustering * content based information filtering * optimized utilisation of parallel hardware architectures see also http://transdoc.ibp.fr +---------------------------------------------------------------+ | Pascal Faudemay | tel (en France) | | | 01 44 27 71 16 | | Laboratoire LIP6/MASI/UPMC | 01 44 27 60 18 | | 4 Place Jussieu | fax 01 44 27 71 16 | | 75 252 PARIS cedex 05 | | | FRANCE | tel from abroad | | | +33 1 44 27 71 16 | | faudemay@masi.ibp.fr | +33 1 44 27 60 18 | | http://transdoc.ibp.fr | fax +33 1 44 27 71 16 | +---------------------------------------------------------------+ -------------------------------------------------- liming CHEN laboratoire HEUDIASYC cnrs ura 817 Centre de Recherche de Royallieu Universite de Technologie de Compiegne BP.529 - 60205 Compiegne cedex France http://kaa.hds.utc.fr:80/~lchen/ http://transdoc.ibp.fr tel : 33. 3 44 23 43 02 fax : 33. 3 44 23 44 77 email : liming.chen@utc.fr -------------------------------------------------- **************************************************************** Patrick SCHOULLER MINISTERE DE L'INDUSTRIE DE LA POSTE ET DES TELECOMMUNICATIONS Direction Generale des Strategies Industrielles 3/5 rue Barbet de Jouy 75353 PARIS 07 SP Telephone : + 33 (1) 43 19 34 25 Telecopie : + 33 (1) 43 19 35 51 E Mail : patrick.schouller@inria.fr ****************************************************************
