From: "skrb" To: "Scherer (Okinczyc)" Subject: Aleksander Okinczyc Date: Sat, 20 Jan 2001 12:23:03 +0100 Dear Sir, My name is Knyrevich Sergej. I was born in Bereza (Bereza Kartuska) Belarus. I was interested of history of Bereza and Bereza area ( Sielec, Malecz etc). Aleksander Okinczyc (1839-1886) born in Sielec, Pruzhany district, Grodno. In 1839 this territory was included into structure of the Russian empire. Now this village is in Bereza district, Brest region, Belarus. Map of Bereza district (Sielec - Polish, Seletz - Russian or Byllorusian) http://brest.world3.com/m3.html Resources on a history Belarus (eng, pol, fr etc.) http://www.ac.by/country/history.html Siedlice - the town in Poland. Here was a mistake, Siedlice is not a native town of Aleksandr Okinczyc. Till 1794 it was a part of Poland (historically this territory referred to as Litva or Lithuania) referred to as, then with 1794 for 1920 - part of the Russian empire, then with 1920 for 1939 again part of Poland, with 1939 on 1991 is Soviet Union (or The Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic=C5) and with 1991 - Republic of Belarus. More of detail about a history of Belarus yuo can read (eng) http://jurix.jura.uni-sb.de/~serko/history/history.html I with several people, which were interested of a history of the native territory, we have some historical material and we prepare to open a site devoted a history of Bereza area. We have an opportunity to work in archives. We shall be grateful for any information and we can answer your questions. Yours faithfully Sergej Knyrevich. ------=_NextPart_000_0094_01C082DB.BC811A00
