Jointly organised by: ACTS Mobility & Personal Communications Domain &
MMITS Forum

This workshop is a follow up of a series of events, starting back in May
1997 with the 1st European Workshop on Software Radio Technologies, held
in Brussels. The success of this event, demonstrated by an overwhelming
International participation, has shown the increased interest in the area
and its potential in revolutionising the way in which future mobile
communications networks will develop. It is beyond any doubt, that the benefits
that can be derived from the widespread introduction of Software Radio
concepts are far reaching and will have profound implications particularly for
the mobile communications sector actors namely manufacturers, operators,
service providers, users, regulators, and standardisation bodies.
This workshop takes place in conjunction with the ACTS Mobile
Communication Summit, an annual event aiming to provide a major
International forum
for the dissemination of the results of the European Research Initiatives,
relating to 3rd Generation Mobile Communication Systems such as UMTS, MBS
and WLAN's including their Satellite components which this year will take
place on June 8-10, in Rhodes Greece.
This 1st International Workshop on Software Radio Technologies is
organised by the European Union funded ACTS projects in close co-operation with
the MMITS Forum and will provide a unique opportunity to review the latest
developments in the field, while permitting to identify the challenges
ahead.
