Our Company, IMPETUS, is a multi-disciplinary firm providing services in
research, development, test & evaluation (RDT&E), planning, management, and
technology transfer in telematics and information systems for the
development of the public and private sectors both in Greece and the
European Community.  IMPETUS consists a group of companies of researchers
and scientists working together in various projects producing innovations
and implementing advanced technologies to various sectors in the Greek and
European Community. IMPETUS Consultants and IMPETUS Systems &
Telecommunications located in Athens, as well as IMPETUS International
located in Brussels were active participants in the development of major
advanced technology systems for the telematics projects in DG XIII,  as well
as for projects in DGVII and DG XXII, such as FRAME, CITRA, SAMOVAR, ARTIS,
SUPERBUS, TASK FORCE ON EVALUATION, as well as in EWTIS and PACT
(combination of road and maritime transport) within the 3rd Framework.
IMPETUS carries a great deal of experience in the training and education
sector, in the areas of marketing and promotion, in the multimedia domain,
in information technologies and in structural organisation of rural SMEs.

We actively participate in the 4th Framework, at all programmes and sectors,
both as the Co-ordinating party and as a full partner, and we have
undertaken projects of major importance within the sectors of Telematics,
Environment, Information Engineering, Transport, Education and Training, etc
, such as TILEMATT, ENVISYS, AUSIAS, GENIUS ZEUS, SHIDESS, FREIA, MEDFORM,
EUDET, EMMA, GEOPHYSICAL METHODS, METAL INDUSTRY, etc. More specifically at
the ENVISYS Project, the main aim of which is oil spill identification and
monitoring, and consists one the leading  projects in the area of emergency
and disaster management, we are developing a collaboration basis with main
Israeli partners.

Our experience in the multimedia domain could be better specified within the
following:

MULTIMEDIA IN PUBLISHING

· Development of a CD-ROM (in cooperation with Publishing Companies) with
lessons in Physics and Computers in a multimedia environment. Questions can
be raised and answers can be given with the simplified and entertaining way
of combining audio, video and images
· Planning to transfer technical, medical and scientific information to
multimedia applications

 MULTIMEDIA IN EDUCATION AND TRAINING

· A series of educational programmes is being developed including
publication materials.
· Assistance to the production of multimedia publication material for
students, the production of multimedia lectures and the on-line examinations
.
· Educational institutes will be able to produce high quality material
within a short production time.
· Close cooperation with Museums as well as Organisations for the
maintenance of the National Heritage

 MULTIMEDIA IN ENTERTAINMENT

· Development of a set of multimedia titles for entertainment/education in=
 a
multilingual format combining the educational and knowledge aspect with
entertainment.
· Learning will be made easier, funnier and easily accessible.


as well as within the MEDFORM Project (Multimedia Publishing Information
Engine) which aims to provide advanced facilities to publishers and authors
for the production of multimedia books, references and didactics either as a
service and/or a product.  MEDFORM will integrate various technologies, such
as hypertext, hypermedia, interactive multimedia, simulation and knowledge-
based technologies towards that purpose.  MEDFORM primarily addresses the
need of publishers and authors for fast and easy multimedia production of
high quality and secondary addresses the need of students and public for
easy and friendly information retrieval from a multimedia book.  In the
education and training sector.

For the time being, IMPETUS is in the status of finalising a Consortium for
a proposal for Educational Multimedia Software development for foreign
languages learning, including business terms of foreign languages.  The
final products of the project will include a user requirements analysis
report, the development of the software, the pilot trial of the developed
software to a selected number of users (schools, universities, colleges,
centres for vocational training, etc.)  at all participating countries,
methodology to be used for the development of the software, hybrid CD-ROM,=

Teachers' training, dissemination strategy.

Our consortium is still not finalised, but it includes partners from Greece,
Italy, Spain, Belgium,  Canada, in the structure of an industrial partner,
training organisations and final users in each participating country.
